Start-Up Visa Program
Eligibility
The Start-Up Visa Program is designed for innovative entrepreneurs who have the potential to build businesses in Canada that can compete on a global scale and create jobs for Canadians. To be eligible for the Start-Up Visa Program, applicants must:
Have a Qualifying Business: At the time of receiving a commitment from a designated organization, each applicant must hold 10% or more of the voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation. Additionally, together with the designated organization, they must control more than 50% of the total voting rights. At the time the applicant receives permanent residence, the business must be incorporated in Canada, provide essential activities within Canada, and have an active and ongoing management from within the country.
Bring Enough Money to Settle: Applicants must have sufficient funds to support themselves and their family members upon arrival in Canada. The amount required depends on the size of the family and is updated annually by IRCC.
Start-Up Visa Program: Requirements
To apply for the Start-Up Visa Program, applicants must submit several essential documents and meet specific requirements, including:
Valid Passport or Travel Document: A copy of the passport or travel document for the applicant and any accompanying family members.
Letter of Support and Commitment Certificate: A letter of support from the designated organization and a commitment certificate sent directly to IRCC by the organization.
Proof of Business Ownership and Support: Documentation proving ownership of the qualifying business and the support from the designated organization.
Proof of Funds: Evidence of sufficient funds to support the applicant and their family members upon arrival in Canada. This could include bank statements or proof of assets.
Police Certificates: Criminal background checks and police certificates from every country where the applicant has lived for six months or more since the age of 18.
Medical Exams: Applicants and their accompanying family members must undergo medical examinations to ensure they meet health standards for entering Canada.
